2024 TILE TRENDS FORECAST

2024 TILE TRENDS FORECAST - Architessa

As a chronic social media scroller, I have compiled a list of refreshing and trend-forward design styles. From contrarian tile appeal and homages to handcrafted arts, could these trends catch fire in 2024?

Here's what impressed me, both tile-focused and not:

JAGGED ARCHES

Arches have been a reigning trend in 2023. Let's take it up a notch and elevate it to a jagged arch. This silhouette favors the natural squared shape of tile, which is where we come in. We definitely don't foresee designers straying away from the handmade look, based on the next predictions below.

NON-PATTERNED, PATTERNED TILE LAYOUT

Minimalist tile, but make it more exciting. Sometimes, picking one color just isn't enough. Simple tiles offer the perfect opportunity to create your own pattern. Perhaps we will jump from checkerboard to stripes. Reminiscent of a 2000's Victoria's Secret bag-inspired bathroom, this is the chic "all-grown up" version. Here are some collections that contain neutrals in both standard and jewel tones.

MIX AND MATCH PATTERNS AND MOSAICS

Sometimes, you just can't be afraid to be bold. Sometimes Coolness trumps Timelessness.

This is a great example of Moody Maximalism. Go for darker, bolder colors and mix-and-match textures while you're at it. In this bathroom design, you can see a handmade look wall tile backsplash, a black mosaic with white accents and grout on the floor, and a blue and white checkerboard tile background.

OUT WITH THE BEIGE, IN WITH THE MOODY WALNUT

Moody Walnut Bathroom

Japandi trends highlight birch and light oak in design. Now, let me re-introduce the alluring Walnut and Espresso tones of wood. Reminiscent of vintage sepia tones, these hues bring in a sense of familiar history and dip into the "moody" common theme. Let's not forget wood is used in design to bring the outside in. Wood-look tile and engineered wood tile are a great alternative to hardwood.

TILE IN EVERY CREVICE, ESPECIALLY FLUTED

 TILE IN EVERY CREVICE

Upgrade your decorative wallpaper, countertops, and tables to tile. It's never a bad investment to splurge on high-quality coverings. Large Format/Slabs/Panels have got you covered. Texture is everything, and fluted/linear/directional accents aren't going anywhere.

HANDMADE, NO GROUT JOINT FORGIVENESS

Boundary pushing or a tile installer's dream? Can your kiddos help?

Our very own collabee, Lauren Liess, shares the effortless look with the help of her kids. And the results were amazing nonetheless. Below we have another great example of handmade tile with little to no grout joints.

HANDMADE TILE

Last but not least, a trend centered on breaking tile norms. Little to no grout joints in between handmade tile! This look accentuates the handmade-look, and makes spaces feel especially natural.
